Genomic Surveillance of MRSA can Detect Unsuspected Outbreaks

Genomic surveillance has revealed the first complete picture of MRSA spread across the east of England. Researchers from the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine tracked MRSA-positive people and were able to describe the complete picture of MRSA transmission within and between hospitals, and in GPs surgeries and communities.

Differences In Laryngeal Sensation

Researchers showed that people with voice disorders frequently present to speech-language pathology and otolaryngology clinics with complaints of irritating laryngeal sensations. These sensations range from burning or pain to an irritating tickle. In response to these patient complaints, SLPs and ENTs discuss the type of sensation, location of sensation, and possible causes of the sensation with the patient.
