Oral Health Expands Human Oral Microbiome Database

Researchers from The Forsyth Institute, a global leader in oral health research, today announced they have added over 80 species to generate the expanded Human Oral Microbiome Database (eHOMD), an online index of microbial species present in the mouth and respiratory tract, including the nasal passages and throat. The database is now home to 772 species and has put Forsyth researchers on the forefront of identifying and capturing the full genomic information of all species that comprise the human oral and upper respiratory tract microbiome.

Moisture Levels Play A Major Role In The Development Of Wrinkles

According to this study, researchers examined the cost of ageing are of concern to us all, especially when considering the likelihood of developing wrinkles. They are not only a hallmark of ageing but also play a fundamental role, they will physically interact with many products and devices, from moisturiser cream and make up to razor and the fabrics of our clothes.

Circadian Controls The Behaviour Of All Living Things Under The Microscope

In this study, Circadian clocks regulate the behaviour of all living things. They have now taken a closer look at the clock's anatomical structures and molecular processes in the honeybee. Chronobiology is the discipline that examines these and other questions about the circadian clocks of all living organisms from protozoans to humans. The study published in the journal Open Biology of the Royal Society.

Mortality risks Linked to Childhood Abuse Minimized With Midlife Support

Research has linked childhood abuse to many adverse health outcomes in adulthood, including premature mortality, but according to new Northwestern University research, supportive relationships in midlife can partly compensate for the mortality risks linked to childhood abuse. "Midlife self-reported social support as a buffer against premature mortality risks associated with childhood abuse" was published in Nature Human Behaviour.
