HIV Programme in India: Building the Evidence Base

The programme specifically aimed to strengthen national capacity to document HIV prevention programmatic learnings from India and to disseminate evidence to wide audiences through the publication of evidence-based papers in peer-reviewed journals.

The study describes the implementation of the documentation programme and the strategies adopted to enhance the capacity of individuals to document and publish HIV prevention programme learnings and discusses the outcomes of the initiative.

Discovery of Novel Gene for Familial Breast Cancer

An international team found a gene known as EDC4, which involved in the familial breast cancer. The study was led by Dr. Jordi Surrallés, director of the Genetics Service at the Hospital de Sant Pau and professor of Genetics at the UAB, and by Dr. Miquel Àngel Pujana, director of the ProCURE Research Program of the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO, IDIBELL).

Dengue-related Stroke Risk

A new study has found that people with dengue fever have a higher risk of stroke, especially in the first 2 months following infection. The study is published in CMAJ (Canadian Medical Association Journal).

Health Service Use and Diarrhoea Management Approach in Nepal

The study aims to examine the association between health service use and diarrhoea management approaches among children aged 0–5 years in Nepal using nationally representative data from the Nepal Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS) for the years 2001, 2006 and 2011.

Researchers also provide insights into the three main diarrhoeal management approaches used by Nepalese government in order to be able to recommend the changes necessary for the successful implementation of the national diarrheal disease control program.
