Prevention Of Skin Diseases And Their Measurements

Kids are embarrassed about warts on their hands or face, not wanting to be teased at school. Similarly, the thought of a fungal infection on the skin, like with ringworm, makes many parents shudder with uneasiness. And they are genuinely scared about the spread of any bacterial skin infection like impetigo. Pools, locker rooms, contact sports, and pets all offer opportunities for your kids to catch "icky" skin conditions such as warts, ringworm, and impetigo, they would rather they didn't bring home.

Heart Cells Progressively Differentiate Into Various Cell Types

A study estimated technology; researchers have gained new insights into the embryonic development of the mouse heart. They discovered that during development, when progenitor heart cells progressively differentiate into various cell types, the Hippo pathway is essential to coordinate the development of these cell types into a working heart. The study was published in the journal Developmental Cell. This technology that provides a 'high-resolution view' of the status of individual cells.

Molecules Brilliantly Illuminated Through Infrared Light

A new high-power laser system generates ultrashort pulses of light covering a large share of the mid-infrared spectrum. Molecules are the building blocks of life. They control our biorhythm, and they can also reflect our state of health. A joint venture between Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) and the Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics (MPQ) in Munich, they want to use brilliant infrared light to study molecular disease markers in much greater detail, for example, to facilitate early-stage cancer diagnosis.

To Examine Osteoclast-Mediated Degradation Of Bovine Knee Joint Compartments

Osteoclasts have been strongly implicated in osteoarthritic cartilage degradation, at least indirectly via bone resorption, and have been shown to degrade cartilage in vitro. The osteoclast resorption processes required to degrade subchondral bone and cartilage the remodelling of which is important in the osteoarthritic disease process have not been previously described, although cathepsin K has been indicated to participate.
