Efficacy Of An Psychological Therapy Reduces Fear Of Heights

Researchers have tested the efficacy of an automated cognitive intervention for fear of heights guided by an avatar virtual coach in VR and delivered with the latest consumer equipment. Psychological therapy delivered by a virtual reality coach can help people with a clinically diagnosed fear of heights overcome their fear. The study was published in the journal Lancet Psychiatry.

Medical Device for Safe Growth of Neural Stem Cells Invented

A research team of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) has invented a medical device with a specific nanotechnology layer for the proliferation and differentiation of neural stem cells (NSCs) in vitro. Compared with traditional methods, the team's novel matrix can reduce the risk of carcinogenesis or inflammation in stem cell therapy—a treatment that offers hope of a cure for neurodegenerative diseases, chronic systemic diseases and degenerative joint diseases.
