Estimation Of Heart Age By Using Health Calculator

According to a study, researchers developed a predictive algorithm to estimate the 5-year risk of incident cardiovascular disease in the community setting. Routinely collected data from large population health surveys linked to chronic disease outcomes create an opportunity to develop more complex risk-prediction algorithms.

A new online health calculator can help people determine their risk of heart disease, as well as their heart age, accounting for sociodemographic factors such as ethnicity, sense of belonging and education, as well as health status and lifestyle behaviors. The study was published in the CMAJ (Canadian Medical Association Journal).

New health calculator can help predict heart disease risk. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in Canada, although risks of death from heart disease are modifiable with lifestyle changes. Most people are unaware of their cardiovascular risk until they experience a cardiac event, which may be fatal.

SPECT/CT Imaging of Chemotherapy-induced Tumor Apoptosis

Non-invasive imaging of apoptosis in tumors induced by chemotherapy is of great value in the evaluation of therapeutic efficacy. In this study, we report the synthesis, characterization, and utilization of radionuclide technetium-99m (99mTc)-labeled dendrimer-entrapped gold nanoparticles (Au DENPs) for targeted SPECT/CT imaging of chemotherapy-induced tumor apoptosis
