Anaesthesia: BPH Completes Successful Trials

BPH Energy provided details on further successful trials of the Cortical Brain Anesthesia Response (BAR) Monitor at St. Luke's Private Hospital and Strathfield Private Hospital in Sydney. The BAR Monitor (or BARM) uses electroencephalography (pEEG) to monitor the brain response to anaesthetic and sedative agents. It's the only monitor to use EEG analysis based on a model of brain electrical activity.

Findings: Epidural Anaesthesia System Market During 2017 – 2025

Epidural anaesthesia, also known as regional anesthesia is a type of anesthesia that is injected at the back of the body. It blocks all responses to nerve impulses from the lower spinal segments, which results in decreased sensation in lower half of the body. Epidural anesthesia medications are of local anesthetics and are delivered in combination with opioids, in order to decrease the required dose of local anesthetic.

Topical Ropivacaine: Effect on Endotracheal Tube During Emergence From General Anesthesia

Topical anesthesia with ropivacaine has been reported to attenuate extubation response in hypertensive surgical patients and by trans-cricothyroid membrane injection. But in genrenal population and with other mode of administration, the effect of topical ropivacaine anesthesia was not clear. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether topical ropivacaine anesthesia can increase the tolerance to the endotracheal tube to facilitate early and rapid recovery of surgical patients (enhanced recovery after surgery, ERAS) post-thyroidectomy.

Role of Anaesthesiologist in any Surgery Highlighted

While the world observes the World Anaesthesia Day, the fraternity of anaesthesiologists strive for awareness among the masses about the importance of anesthesia and anaesthesiologist pre and post any surgical intervention.

Though the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists have launched an advocacy campaign for the occasion called 'Safe Anaesthesia for Everybody' to emphasize safety during the administration of anesthesia, some anaesthesiologists have been working hard to spread awareness among the masses about their role and importance.
