Probiotics Effective for Functional Abdominal Pain in Children

 Probiotics can ease pain short-term in children with recurrent abdominal pain (RAP), according to a new report. One in four schoolchildren will experience RAP, a collective term for functional dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), abdominal migraine, functional abdominal pain and functional abdominal pain syndrome – Dr. Tamsin Newlove-Delgado of the University of Exeter Medical School in the U.K. and her colleagues note in a "clinical evidence synopsis" in JAMA Pediatrics, online December 28.
