Lipid Involved In Skin Cell Turnover Aid In Psoriasis

A lipid that helps keep skin cell turnover on track may help restore healthy turnover in psoriasis, investigators say. Topical application of the lipid phosphatidylglycerol, or PG, on a mouse model of psoriasis reduced inflammation as well as characteristic, raised skin lesions, they report in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology.

Link Between Inflammatory Markers, Tumor Aggressiveness

Researchers at University Putra Malaysia found a relationship between some markers of inflammation in the body and the aggressiveness of certain malignant tumors. They conducted full body scans of 31 people with malignant tumors – including cancers of the lung, esophagus, colon, and breast – using a machine that combines positron emission and computed tomography (PET/CT).
