Molecular Structure Of ‘Anti-Aging’ Protein

Researcher reveals the molecular structure of the so-called "anti-aging" protein alpha Klotho (a-Klotho) and how it transmits a hormonal signal that controls a variety of biologic processes. The study was published in Nature. They demonstrated that mice lacking either a-Klotho or the hormone FGF23 suffered from premature and multiple organ failures as well as other conditions, including early onset cardiovascular disease, cancer, and cognitive decline.

Efficacy Of Microneedling With 5-Flurouracil Effective Vitiligo Treatment

According to a study, the researcher examined the efficacy of microneedling with 5-fluorouracil versus its efficacy with tacrolimus in the treatment of vitiligo. Several treatment modalities had been used for the treatment of vitiligo, but the optimal treatment has not yet been identified. Microneedling in combination with 5-fluorouracil is a safe and effective treatment for vitiligo. The study was published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology

A High Prevalence Of Hearing Loss In The Older Adults

The peripheral and central hearing alterations associated with age-related hearing loss have a profound impact on perception of verbal and non-verbal auditory stimuli. Age-related hearing loss (ARHL), presbycusis, is a chronic health condition that affects approximately one-third of the world's population.

The high prevalence of hearing loss in the older adults corresponds to the increased frequency of dementia in this population. Researchers have focused their attention on age-related central effects that occur independent of the peripheral hearing loss as well as central effects of peripheral hearing loss and its association with cognitive decline and dementia.

Biomedical Measurements On Each Astronauts In Spaceflight

A study conducted project to determine if humans could perform meaningful tasks while in space. This was supported by a series of biomedical measurements on each astronaut before, during (when feasible), and after flight to document the effects of exposure to the spaceflight environment. NASA selected seven active-duty military test pilots for temporary duty as astronauts.

Low-titer Group “O” Single-Donor Platelets Prepared with Platelet Additive Solution

At present, there are no published reports on the effect of platelet additive solutions (PAS) on quality parameters and in vitro variables of SDP from India.

The present study was conducted to explore the feasibility of using PAS for making low-titer group “O” units which can be transfused across the ABO barrier and also maintain acceptable standards for quality parameters over the duration of storage (5 days) when compared with PC produced with 100% plasma.

To Assess Different General Anesthesia Methods with Tumor Metastasis

A study designed to assess whether different anesthesia methods were associated with tumor metastasis during the perioperative period and the possible molecular mechanisms of tumor metastasis. General anesthesia and general anesthesia combined with an epidural block before hepatectomy were conducted on tumor-bearing rats. The present study compared the anti-metastatic effect of GA and GEA on tumor-bearing rats with hepatectomy.

IMPROVE Trials: Improving Recovery and Outcomes Every Day after the ICU

The primary outcome of IMPROVE is to determine the effects of the combined physical exercise and cognitive training on the cognitive function of ICU survivors aged 50 and older.

The secondary outcomes of IMPROVE are to determine the effects of the combined physical exercise and cognitive training on physical performance, anxiety and depressive symptoms, and quality of life of this patient population, and to examine the mechanisms of action of combined training by measuring biomarkers relevant to delirium and dementia
