According to results from an open-label randomized trial, extended-pulsed fidaxomicin, delivering 20 doses over a longer time period after initial daily dosing, appears superior to standard-dose vancomycin for sustained cure of Clostridium difficile infection in patients age 60 or older.The study results was published in the Lancet Infectious Diseases.
Greenwood Genetic Center (GGC) in collaboration with scientists from Canada have identified unique epigenetic signatures for nine neurodevelopmental disorders lending to a better method of diagnosis for disorders with much clinical overlap. The epigenetic signatures were developed through methylation analysis and were reported in The American Journal of Human Genetics .
On average, former elite athletes survive longer than their brothers. In addition, their self-rated health and health-related habits are better in comparison to their brothers at an older age. This was clarified by Master of Health Sciences (Sports and Exercise Medicine) Titta Kontro from the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences at the University of Jyväskylä. The study included in total 900 former elite athletes and their brothers.
